Description
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Landscape Specialist to perform landscaping and maintain greenhouse operations for the City. This position plays a vital role in enhancing and maintaining the beauty and sustainability of public spaces.
Summary of Duties
Maintains City landscapes, including watering, spraying pesticides, mulching, weeding, and fertilizing trees, shrubs, plants, and flowers.
Assist in evaluating landscape sites for designs and improvements, including establishing soil conditions and gauging weather exposure.
Plants trees, shrubs, plants, and flowers for the beautification and environmental health of the City.
Supports greenhouse operations, including maintaining records of plant-related activity and of orders placed for supplies and materials; maintains indoor foliage in City facilities.
Operates equipment of responsibility and reports the need for repairs or replacement.
Identifies common tree health issues and applies appropriate treatment methods under guidance.
Collects and organizes data related to landscaping activities to support long-term planning efforts.
Coordinates with other departments, groups, and individuals to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
Attends and/or conduct staff meetings to exchange information.Minimum Qualifications
Must have a valid TN Driver's License and High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred but not required)
Training and Experience:- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or greenhouse operations
- Familiarity with plant care, soil preparation, irrigation systems, and landscaping tools and equipment
- Basic knowledge of pest control, fertilization, and plant disease identification
- On-the-job training or apprenticeships in a municipal or commercial landscaping setting is a plus.
Supplemental Information
Requires medium-to-high work involving exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis.
